Good day!

I would like to inform everybody that as of August 29, we have raised a total of 12,580 pesos. We were also able to receive medicine donation from a generous person. I personally would like to thank all those who contributed.

Currently, I have been receiving pledges through emails and text. Hopefully, it would not remain that way. =)

Let us pray that the fund we are raising would continuously grow.

For those who would like to help in my endeavor, please do contact me at the details I indicated in my previous posts.

Again, thank you!

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam,

Josh

It was a memorable day indeed for Jones as he celebrated his 28th birthday yesterday. The day started with a thanksgiving mass celebrated by Father Joel E. Tabora of the Society of Jesus. Atty. Manny Diaz, Dr. Marlyn Regondola, Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Lobrigo, Jesus Tabinas, Gerald Corral, Anne Magadia-Uy, along with Jones and May’s family and friends were some of those who attended.

Jones broke into tears when the group sang the Happy Birthday song.

A simple salo-salo followed.

UPDATE #1

August 23, 2006

Last August 18, I started the information dessimination campaign to pray for Jones’ fast recovery. I likewise called for suggestions on how we can help him and his family cope up with the expenses. A day after, many responded. Some offered prayers and some pledged to share some of their blessings. I never expected such volume of responses.

Currently, I am spearheading a fund raising campaign for Jones. As of August 24, we have raised a total of Php10,080.00. I am sincerely asking everyone to help me in this endeavor. You can contact me in any of the following:

Update on Jones’ Condition

——————————
I have spoken to May (Jone’s wife) last night over the phone, she told me that Jones is recovering very well. He can now chew small slices of apples. He can utter some phrases such as “sakit, aray, ang paa ko, grabe man, di ko kaya.” He can now move a bit his hands and feet. It’s a good sign!

Prayer is Power

August 18, 2006

O God Who is the only source of health and healing, the Spirit of calm and the central peace of this universe, grant Jones such a consciousness of Your indwelling and surrounding presence that he may permit You to give him health and strength and peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Jones Needs Your Help

Dear Batchmates and Friends,

Good Day!

As some of you may have heard, our batchmate and friend Jones Capucao is in need of our prayers and help.

Just weeks ago, his entire body was paralyzed. He even can’t, at the very least, open his eyes. This was caused by a sudden drop of electrolytes in his body making it very much vulnerable to other illnesses. Though he submitted himself to a complete medical examination in UST, all tests were found negative. Until now, the doctors cannot give a definite diagnosis. However, his wife suspects that Jones is suffering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (http://www.gbsfi.com/overview.html).

I saw Jones condition last week and he is on his way to recovery. He can now open his eyes, move his head, move his tongue, and move a bit of his hands. However, he cannot move yet his mouth. He communicates by sticking out his tongue. His therapy would take a long process. In my observation, he needs physical, neuro, and speech treatments.

I would like to ask everyone for suggestions on how we could help Jones in our own little way. If you have suggestions in mind, don’t hesitate to contact me at my email address (jcm@sili.adnu.edu.ph) or call me at +639189389833.

I would appreciate it much if you can forward this to others especially those not included in my list.

Let us help and pray for Jone’s fast recovery.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Joshua Martinez
